François Barbotin has a strong expertise in advising clients on their international corporate transactions and structuring, from both a legal and tax perspective. He has developed practical skills in international taxation (including helping multinationals on their profit tax exemption claims and tax optimization), legal drafting (e.g. shareholders’ agreement, services, supply, distribution, SPA, etc.) and onshore/offshore company administration. Francois was based in Phnom Penh (Cambodia) for more than 2 years, where he worked in a Law Firm to gain a more practical understanding of domestic and cross-border practices. He completed a double bachelor’s degree in law and economics from the Sorbonne University in Paris, before graduating from a Master in International Business Law. He moved to Hong Kong in 2016, where he worked for a family office, advising on legal matters, including Private Equity and investment deals. Alongside his work, Francois is taking evening classes in the Hong Kong University to have a dual qualification in both civil and common law. Francois is fluent in French, Mandarin Chinese, and English.
